Celebrations before and after kids.

How different is when you celeberate something as a couple or when you celebrate something as parents? Quite different and I am sure you all will agree. So ok let’s have a look at how celebrate every special day before and after kids starting from January.

New Year –

Before kids –

  • At a weekend destination attending resort’s private party till wee hours.
  • In a pub dancing or a club drinking and making merry or a fine dine in a hotel.
  • Cosying up in your blanket with cosy and warm dinner (either ordered in or cooked together), with drinks.
  • At friend’s or cousin’s place at a barbeque and karaoke party with great food and lots of drinks.

After kids –

  • Watching dance and music show/ cartoon show on tv with kids till 10pm and then making them sleep and hushing over a coffee after kids sleep.
  • At extended family dinners where all.the kids create a havoc, men drink and women cook.
  • At a weekend destination attending a resort’s private party till 10pm and then back to room with kids.

Valentine’s day –

Before kids –

  • Spending a day out together watching a movie, lunch, long drive, dinner, coffee.
  • Attending a valentine’s day special event in a hotel.
  • Staycation at a resort in the outskirts of the city.

After kids –

  • There is no such day as Valentine’s day (specially if kids have school next day).

Navratri –

Before kids –

  • Attending back to back dandiya nights, hogging onto junk food, hopping from pandal to pandal.

  • Visit different Dussehra melas to please kids, give into their demands of junk food and then worry about their health.

Diwali –

Before kids –

  • Visiting friends and family, eating good food, making rangolis, lighting a lot of diyas, candles and lights, wearing heaviest of clothes.

After kids –

  • Visiting only a few people, keeping healthy food for kids as first option, lighting only a few diyas, candles and lights to make house safer for kids.

Christmas – One festival that is definitely more fun with kids.

Before kids –

  • Usual fun with friends; lunch, dinner, drink or coffee scenes.

After kids –

  • Making a christmas tree, buying santa dresses for kids, arranging or attending play dates, cake cutting, visiting christmas carnivals.

Your or hubby’s birthday –

Before kids –

  • Midnight surprises, family lunches, long drives, romantic dinner.
  • Much awaited trip full of fun.

After kids –

  • Cards by kids, midnight surprises by kids, ordering in or family lunch/dinner.

Your Anniversary –

Before kids –

  • A long trip to an exotic/peaceful/hapening destination.

After kids –

  • Trips if kid’s school schedule allow
  • Gifts by kids (too), family lunches/dinner.

Well isn’t this a story almost everywhere? I am sure it is. Sometime your kids don’t want to let you go, the other times you are too guilty to celebrate without them. It’s not that you don’t get a couple time or me time after kids but it certainly gets reduced.

Well I guess no one is complaining either!
